Dr. Polack plans each case using Dawson Academy principles, so your new smile looks natural and works with your bite. Most cases take two to three visits.

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are custom-designed shells that are applied to the surface of your teeth. Veneers can be used to cover worn enamel and uneven tooth alignment or spacing. Veneers offer a durable way of creating or restoring beauty to a smile. They can also be used to re-establish the function and strength of the tooth.

Here is a list of uses for porcelain veneers:

• Closing the space caused by gum disease between teeth
• Correcting the length and width of a tooth
• Tooth straightening without braces
• Covering the screw hole on a dental implant crown or root canal
• Repairing broken teeth, chips, or cracks
• Creating even tooth shapes and a consistent shade of white across all the teeth
• Brightening your smile!

Preparing Your Smile for Porcelain Veneers

The tooth preparation process for veneers involves removing a small amount of enamel to create space for the veneer and ensure a proper fit. This process is precise and tailored to preserve as much natural tooth structure as possible.

Getting porcelain dental veneers can be nerve-wracking for some. Here are some ways to help ensure the process goes well and to minimize anxiety that patients might have before their treatment:

• Ask questions: It is helpful to gain an understanding of how the dental veneer procedure works. Make sure to ask questions if you are unsure about the dental veneer treatment process. The more you are informed about dental veneers, the more confident you will feel on the day of the visit.

• Plan enough time: The procedure for veneers does not take long, but the entire visit can take a few hours. Be sure to arrange for time off from any obligations you might have so that you don’t feel stressed during your appointment.

• Have a good plan in place: Keeping your dental veneers looking great requires good oral hygiene, avoiding foods and drinks that can cause stains, and visiting the dentist for regular cleaning and checkup visits.

Placing Your Porcelain Veneers

The process of getting porcelain veneers is pain-free and does not require a lot of visits. Here are the steps our dentists will take in placing your porcelain veneers:

1. Teeth Impression: Our dentist will first take an impression of your tooth (or teeth). The impression creates an image of your jaw that helps the dentist determine how to proceed.
2. Tooth Trimming: This step involves trimming the tooth that will receive the porcelain veneer. The tooth is trimmed to make enough space on the tooth so that the veneer can be placed comfortably.
3. Selecting the Perfect Shade: Our dentists will choose the color of the porcelain based on the color of the rest of your teeth.
4. Temporary Veneer: Since it takes around a week or two for the dentist to prepare a porcelain veneer, a temporary veneer may be applied during this period.
5. Evaluating the Fit: Once the permanent veneer is ready, our dentist will place it in your mouth. The veneer may be removed and trimmed several times to get the perfect fit and feel.
6. Bonding It to the tooth: Once everything is in place, it is time to bond the veneer to your tooth. The surface of both the veneer and the original tooth will be textured before bonding. We’ll place the bonding agent on the veneer and use a blue light to finalize the bonding.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is a full set of veneers in Georgia?

The cost of a full set of veneers depends on how many teeth are treated, the type of porcelain used, and any work needed first, such as whitening or fillings. Most full sets cover 8 to 10 upper teeth. At Sugarloaf Signature Dentistry, Dr. Polack gives you an exact price at your consultation, before any treatment starts. Veneers are cosmetic, so insurance rarely covers them.
